Patriots Pull Off Week 4 Comeback, Sit at 2-2

A Week 4 rally has the Patriots back on track at 2-2, and Nana's feeling good about it.

Well now, sweetheart, pull up a chair and let the tea steep a minute, because there's actually some good news to sip on.

Per ESPN, the Patriots were staring down a slide to 1-3 before Week 4 turned the whole thing around on them. However it happened, they pulled off the kind of comeback that has them sitting at 2-2 today instead of licking their wounds. I don't have the play-by-play for you — nobody called me from the press box — but a team that fights its way back like that, instead of folding up like a lawn chair, tells you something about the character in that locker room. That's the sort of thing that wins you games later in the year, if you ask me, long after everybody's forgotten how close it came to going the other way.

A Little Chirping Over That Catch

Meanwhile, there's some noise coming from the other sideline, too. Per ESPN, C.J. Gardner-Johnson wasn't exactly tipping his cap to Patriots receiver Efton Chism III after that one-handed touchdown grab. He waved it off as just a practice squad fella getting lucky, and figures it's not something Chism does twice.

Now, dear, I've sat through enough baseball to know that talk is cheap and the scoreboard doesn't care who said what. A catch like that doesn't need anybody's blessing — it happened, it counted, and the kid gets to keep it forever regardless of what the other team's safety thinks about his roster status. If anything, needling a young player like that just gives him something to chew on the next time the ball comes his way. Some fellas never learn.

I'll keep the radio on and the scorebook handy. Two and two isn't anything to throw a parade over, but it beats where this team was headed a week ago, and that's worth a second cup of tea.
